Big Bear Painters is a locally owned painting contractor serving Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, Moonridge, Sugarloaf, Fawnskin, Baldwin Lake, Arrowbear, and Running Springs. We specialize in exterior house painting, interior painting, deck staining, log home refinishing, and vacation rental painting for cabins and second homes throughout the San Bernardino Mountains. Licensed with the California Contractors State License Board, fully insured, and built specifically for the conditions that make painting at 6,752 feet in the San Bernardino National Forest different from anywhere else in Southern California.
14 Years Painting the San Bernardino Mountains
Big Bear Painters was founded by Derek Walsh after spending years watching out-of-area contractors take jobs on the mountain, underestimate what painting at elevation actually requires, and leave cabin owners with peeling paint, missed appointments, and no accountability.
Derek grew up in the San Bernardino Mountains and has been painting residential and vacation rental properties across the Big Bear Valley since 2010. He started with exterior repaints on wood-sided cabins in Big Bear City and Moonridge, built a reputation through word of mouth among second-home owners who needed someone reliable, and gradually expanded to serve the full range of mountain painting needs — from log home staining in Fawnskin to vacation rental interior refreshes in Sugarloaf to full cabin refinishing projects on the north shore of Big Bear Lake.
Big Bear Painters is not a valley company that drives up the mountain when it's convenient. We live and work here year-round. We know what Big Bear winters do to exterior paint, how pine sap bleeds through primer on T&G siding, and why the south-facing wall of a cabin near Snow Summit needs a different prep approach than the north-facing wall of a lakefront home in Fawnskin. That knowledge comes from 14 years on the mountain — not from a product spec sheet.
